A Navy SEAL loadout in Ramadi

In April 2006, SEAL Team Three, Charlie Platoon arrives in Ramadi (Iraq) in order to support the Coalition’s operations inside the city. The 16 operators of Charlie Platoon (aka The Punishers) were armed with an impressive array of weapons. The following was the loudout of Kevin Lacz (aka Dauber), one of the 16 SEALs of Charlie, during his deployment in Ramadi, as described in the book “The last Punisher”.

  • MICH (Modular Integrated Communication Helmet) equipped with AN/PVS-15 night vision goggles;
  • M4 carbine optimized for close quartes battle with a 10-inch barrel equipped with a 6-inch sound suppressor, Surefire flashlight and EOTech sight, short barrel and foregrip and seven magazines 5.56mm;
  • SIG Saure P226 pistol with a 15-round magazine and two spares;
  • Two fragmentation grenades;
  • One smoke grenade;
  • CRKJ folding knife;
  • Low pro body armour;
  • One IR strobe;
  • Three sets of flex-cuffs;
  • Map;
  • Pen and paper;
  • Blowout kit (three compressed Kerlix field dressings, 14-gauge needle, Asherman chest seal, two ACE wraps);
  • Med bag with haemorrhage control measures, advanced airway surgical tools, tourniquet; needle decompression, bag valve masks, and pulse oximetry;

In addition, the SEALs used to ride aboard heavily armed 1152B HMMMWVs, each mounting one .50 caliber machine gun, and one smaller 7.62mm M240B machine gun. The vehicles also carried LAW (Light Antitank Weapon) Rockets and 84mm Carl Gustav recoiless rifles. Each HMMMWV was named after characters from the 80’s animated series GI Joe.
